Hey Reader,

You know that casserole. The one that you know by heart & can make in like 10 minutes?? For me, it's my Cheesy Chicken Ranch Casserole.

I got bored of it (like everything that I've made too many times). Not the flavor. The flavor's perfect. I just get bored of making the exact same thing every time....relate??

Fresh Take

So, I do what I always do & started by changing ONE thing about the dish. If I love the flavor, then I just change the "format" or the structure of the dish a bit. Maybe it becomes a sandwich, or a soup, or a salad.

Turns out (as I suspected!) one casserole can be three completely different dinners if you aren't afraid to test the waters a little.

If you've been here for a minute, you know I believe to my core that NO ingredient is sacred.

And, friend - I'm telling you now. If you adopt that one philosophy then that's when some serious dinner magic drops.

So, here's what I'm doing to that one casserole this week (maybe you'll see my results on IG in the near future!)

#1: Make it soup.

Skip the bake. Add stock & a bit of milk in with the condensed soups. Same flavor, zero oven, on the table in 30ish minutes. And, it's soup season....or it will be soon!

As soon as there's a whiff of fall, I try turning everything into a soup. It's a problem for my husband, since he's not a huge soup fan. Unfortunately for him, soup is like my love language :)

#2: Make it buffalo.

Yes ma'am change up that flavor profile a notch. Switching the flavor of the dish is sometimes all you need to make it feel like a completely NEW recipe.

Don't ditch the ranch packet, just dump in a heavy hand glug or two (or 4) of your favorite buffalo sauce. Still cheesy, still your rotisserie chicken, now it's got heat and what my middle schoolers (yes I have 2 now!) "main character energy."

This is gonna feel like a new recipe. It's not. It's the same recipe just wearing a different outfit.

Something with flare! 💃

#3: Make it pasta. Skip the rice, use whatever noodles you've got or opt for the heat-and-serve packs. Sure, why not! Now, you've got a carb-tastic pasta dish that'll surely check off that comfort food box you've been looking for this week.

Same base. Three dinners. No new recipe required. Just permission to take a little liberty with those ingredients & keep things interesting.

This is basically my whole cooking philosophy in one email. You don't need more recipes. You need to know how to bend the ones you've already got. Not more. Just different.

If you haven't made the original Cheesy Chicken Ranch Casserole grab it here then come back and tell me which Recipe Redo idea you're trying first.

TGIF,

Brett
