Hey Reader,
Where are my micromanagers at? 🙋♀️
Yeah, I'm looking at you friend who gives everyone the stink eye when they don't load the dishwasher the right way....
Listen, I'm guilty of this & I know I'm not alone.
But this fall, let’s try something different: step out of micromanage mode and let the so-called “kitchen helpless” humans in your house actually help.
In our house, that means my husband and the kids make Mummy Dogs every Halloween.
It’s total chaos. Dough stuck to the counter, mustard eyes that look… derpy not quite scary or cute.
But it’s their thing & it’s actually become one of my favorite traditions.
📸Cute Pics But...Look Closer!
So, these are more than cute pics. This actually matters because two MAJOR things are happening here that may be unobservable to the naked eye:
#1 dinner stops feeling like a solo job because they get that lightbulb moment of "OH...I can (and should) help with that"
#2 - these pics were taken 6+ years ago....and both the little boys in these pics are fully capable of making dinner now.
Sure, it may consist of a 3-step-pizza sometimes. But, it also gets me homemade air fryer croutons & a killer salad, too.
Teamwork makes the dream work, amiright??
#Halloween Challenge
So here’s your Freaking Delish challenge before Halloween hits:
🧀 Let someone make the no-cook charcuterie board.
🥗 Hand off salad duty & yes, bagged greens totally count.
🍝 Give someone “heat & serve” duty. Reheating pasta is a legit life skill.
➡️➡️That’s why I love having two no-cook meals a week in Supper Club. It gives your family a way to get involved without the stress (or the “you’re doing it wrong” micromanage moment).
So this fall? Step back. Let them stir, sprinkle, and serve. It won’t be perfect, but it’ll be yours.
Freeze Dried Candy🎃
Okay, I had to add this to the mix this week because I just couldn't resist....
You know how freeze-dried candy is all the rage right now?
Well, my dad recently decided he’s a homesteader. He bought one of those big freeze dryers and he is OBSESSED. He’s freeze drying everything. Period. From candy to okra.
In fact, this summer he made (and sold) 80+ bags of candy for his church yard sale. Swear.
But, this was not on my radar at all. But now? I think it’s so neat.🤗
If you’re even a little curious (or know someone who just bought one and is staring at it), my friend Carolyn from Homesteading Family is teaching about it in her free training of the month.
You might remember her from my summit back in August. She's AH-MAY-ZING! And, of course, she knows everything about this stuff!
It’s Thursday, Oct 29 at 1 pm PT (3 pm Central). Totally free, but seats are limited.
And, yesssss I've already sent this link to my dad :)) & he'll 100% be there with bells on!
TGIF Friend,
Brett
😍I put a lot of heart into these emails. I hope they make your week a little easier.
psssst!! 🎉Huge announcement coming next week.....and trust me...you'll want to see this!
