Hey Reader,

Can we please talk about the men in our lives who don't cook? It's been a hot minute since I've circled this subject, but I'm feeling compelled today--mainly because I have a brag, but also because I have a confession.😉

So, as many of you know, my husband is a pretty damn good food photographer (just pick up any Food & Wine, Southern Living, or Real Simple mag & his shot is likely on the cover).

However..........he's not always known for his cooking skills.

That's NOT because he can't cook. It's because he has an out. (It's me, I'm the out.)

And, we go through seasons of life (just like you!) where the routine of me cooking & him NOT is quite comfortable.

That is, until it isn't.

We cycle through this routine from time to time, and this time around I really leaned into my "I'm so freaking over this" vibe. (Maybe it's the hormones, maybe not....but, I was committed.)

I had zero idea what was in the fridge.

Zero idea what was in the pantry. Zero idea what time dinner needed to happen.

Because 3 days a week? I refused to carry the load.

I mean, I went ALL IN.

And, I did this consistently for 2 months until something magical happened.

(Well, we did eat a lot of late night dinners that were pretty gross....). But, then the magic....

Someone remembered they TOO had that dinner problem that had to be solved. WHY? Because I stopped solving it.

I'm not gonna lie--I thought I was gonna go bananas at one point & smother someone in their sleep. But, sure enough, someone finally got the memo.

And, the result has been well worth the wait.

Pork tenderloin kebabs with spicy jalapeno infused pineapple & coconut rice? Halleluiah! I swear, I almost took a picture of it, but I didn't want him to get too big of a head over it. :))

So, for all of you who are out there carrying the heavy load & wondering how it is in everyone else's house -- it's the same.

Nobody has a unicorn partner. 🦄

No marriage is 50/50.

It's always 75/25, but this is your reminder that eventually, it does swing back to 25/75, and you'll get yours.

It just may take a few months & some serious commitment to turn the tide on your end. But, it does turn. And, you can renegotiate the roles you assume. Trust me when I tell you: you have more power than you know.

NO COOK DINNER

I created these no cook dinner recipes for my own husband. These are basically "pass the baton" recipe ideas for your other half. Seriously.

If it's a "skill issue", a time issue, or an "IDK what to cook issue" these will be a slam dunk every single time.

And, if you need a little "no cook" (assembly style) dinner idea for your hubs or partner - go check out this BLT Pasta Salad.

No judgment if you’re the one who makes it this time. Just don’t forget you can pass the baton next week.😉

TGIF,

Brett

😍I put a lot of heart into these emails. I hope they make your week a little easier.
